Bernie Ecclestone has no concerns over the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix following trouble in the country which saw the cancellation of the 2011 event.
The following year’s race was also under threat of being cancelled after further protests were held, resulting in the Force India team missing FP2 to ensure its mechanics didn’t have to travel home in the dark.
82-year-old Ecclestone says he’s heard of nothing negative and expects the race to go ahead without issue.
“I haven’t had any negative reports from anybody there,” he told Reuters. “Somebody who actually lives there came to see me yesterday and said everything’s very normal.
“Everything that is there is as far as we are concerned good. They do a very, very good job of the race, the whole support from the top is good. No problems.”
Ecclestone also confirmed he would be in attendance.
