Emanuele Pirro has been confirmed as the driver representative on the stewarding panel for the Chinese Grand Prix.
Pirro drove for Benetton in 1989 and finished 23rd with two points before a move to Scuderia Italia for the 1990 and 1991 seasons. He subsequently spent four year as a test driver for McLaren.
His F1 career may have been relatively short, but his overall motorsport career has spanned some 40 years. Pirro has competed in Le Mans for 11 years with the Audi team taking five Le Mans wins, victory at the Daytona 24 Hours and two wins at the Sebring 12 Hours.
In addition he has won the German and Italian Touring Car championships (the latter twice) and has twice been American Le Mans Series Champion.
The 50-year-old made his debut as an FIA steward at the 2010 Abu Dhabi GP and previously officiated at the 2011 Chinese GP.
He will be joined by Gary Connelly, FIA Institute Director, F1 and WTCC steward and FIA World Motor Sport Council Member. The third and final steward will be the President of the Sporting Commission of the Automobile and Touring Club of Venezuela, Vincenzo Spano.
