Felipe Massa says he isn’t worried about his race seat at Ferrari amid speculation that Sergio Perez could replace him mid-season.
The Mexican finished second in Malaysia for Sauber, just behind Massa’s team-mate, Fernando Alonso. Meanwhile, Massa could only manage 15th after falling back during the race.
“I’m happy for him and for his team, but [how] disturbing [is it for me]? Zero,” claimed the Brazilian after the race. “I’m looking more for myself, my driving, my work.
“I’m never looking for the others and whether them doing well is a problem for me or the opposite. I’m not like that. I’m happy for him because he did a great job.”
Wild rumours in the paddock claim Perez could replace Massa as early as the next race in China, though that’s very unlikely given Massa has a contract until the end of the season.
Perez is part of Ferrari’s junior development programme, so any switch would make sense, but is unlikely to happen until the end of the season.
