Lotus have confirmed that they will run a private test session for Kimi Raikkonen, lasting two days, to enable the Finn to re-acclimatise himself with F1 machinery.
The 2007 champion hasn’t driven an F1 car since he retired in 2009.
Lotus will run a two-year old chassis, the R30 used in 2010, on January 23rd and 24th in Valencia.
Whilst Raikkonen admits the biggest challenge will be the new Pirelli rubber, current testing restrictions mean Lotus can’t use race-spec tyres, instead a much harder compound demo tyre will be used.
“Learning Pirelli’s tyres will be the most important job as it’s a different approach from what I experienced before,” he said earlier this month.
