Karun Chandhok says he’s preparing himself for another year as a test and reserve driver, most likely with Caterham F1 (formerly Team Lotus).
The Indian, who drove for HRT during their debut season in 2010, left the outfit and joined Team Lotus for 2011, fulfilling the role of test driver, though he got the opportunity to replace Jarno Trulli for a single race at the German GP.
Despite this, he admitted 2012 will most likely consist of the same.
“I am mentally preparing myself to continue as a test driver for another season,” he is quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India.
With just two seats remaining on the grid, his chances of securing a full-time race seat are dwindling, something Chandhok alluded to.
“As of now, most of the teams have announced their drivers for the 2012 season,” he added. “There are only two slots up for grabs — one with Williams and other with HRT.
“So the situation is a bit difficult but I am ready to work hard.”
