Former-Formula 1 driver, JJ Lehto (Jyrki Juhani Järvilehto), has been sentenced to two years and four months in jail, after a boating accident in 2010 killed his friend.
The Finn, who drove for Onyx, Scuderia Italia, Sauber and Benetton between 1989 and 1994, suffered from broken ribs and head injuries, but his friend passed away after the boat, driven by Lehto, hit a bridge support.
Lehto was believed to have been intoxicated whilst in control of the boat as well as speeding well above the local limit.
The 45-year-old claims to have not been behind the controls at the time. His lawyer has appealed the verdict.
