Pastor Maldonado is confident that his seat at Williams for 2012 is secure, despite an investigation by the Venezuelan authorities into his PDVSA backing.
Congressman Carlos Ramos has requested documents showing what payments were made to Williams in 2011 to secure Maldonado a seat and to sponsor the team.
The investigation has cast doubt over the teams, and the 26-year-olds funding for the 2012 season, but Maldonado isn’t worrying about his seat.
“I don’t know exactly what is happening but I don’t worry about it,” he said in Brazil. “I’m doing well, I’m doing my job, the best I can and I feel a lot of confidence from the country, from the sponsor and from the team. So I am really happy to be here and I would like to continue for sure.”
Maldonado is certain that the agreement between state-owned PDVSA and Williams is in good order, and shouldn’t present any problems in the near future.
“Yeah for sure. I don’t know exactly what the contract is and what is the deal with Williams, but I think it is really a responsible and big company, very serious, and I believe they do everything in the correct way.
“This is a big project, not only to have Pastor Maldonado in F1, but to promote the country to improve all the similar sporting situations.”
