The 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season could be heading for an unexpected conclusion, with reports suggesting the championship’s traditional Middle Eastern finale may be moved to Europe. The ongoing regional geopolitical instability has forced championship organizers to prepare an alternative schedule, potentially bringing the title fight to two of Europe’s most iconic circuits instead.
According to Daily Sportscar, the FIA World Endurance Championship is set to revise the conclusion of its 2026 calendar by the end of this month, with the season now expected to finish in Europe instead of the Middle East. The report states that ongoing geopolitical instability in the region has prompted Le Mans Endurance Management (LMEM) to activate a “Plan B”, replacing the scheduled races in Qatar and Bahrain with events at Barcelona and Monza.
The proposed changes would mark the second major adjustment to the 2026 WEC schedule, following the earlier postponement of the Qatar round. Organizers have been closely monitoring the situation for several months and are prioritizing the safety of teams, drivers, and personnel, while ensuring the championship can be completed without further disruption.
