Adrian Sutil’s manager has denied the German is in talks with Williams over a possible drive for 2012, after he was seen at the Williams HQ in Oxfordshire earlier this month.
It is believed that Williams are interested in his or Kimi Raikkonen’s services, as a replacement for one of its drivers, most likely Rubens Barrichello.
But Manfred Zimmermann, Sutil’s manager, says the reports are ‘nonsense’ and the main aim for the 28-year-old is to retain his seat at Force India.
“Our first choice for 2012 is Force India,” Zimmermann told Sportsmail. “At this time there is no action talking to other teams.”
It’s believed Williams are interested in Sutil, not only because of his talent and experience, but because he would bring personal sponsor, Medion, with him to the team, providing a cash injection.
Zimmermann however claims the Force India driver doesn’t need sponsorship to secure him a seat because his driving capabilities, which saw him finish 11th in 2010 and currently occupy 12th, are enough of an incentive.
“There is no need to bring sponsors or money to a team for Adrian,” he added. “Last year and this year, he is fighting for a top ten result in the world championship.
“Medion make their decision after we have signed a contract. If there is a nice offer they become a sponsor of the team, if not, they will not.”
