Sebastian Vettel says he has got his confidence back following a disappointing fourth position last weekend at the German Grand Prix.
The Red Bull driver stormed to pole position in Hungary on Saturday despite struggling on Friday. His team made several changes to the cars set-up through the night, even breaking the curfew, to ensure Vettel had the best possible car for qualifying.
He admitted the decision to change directions with the set-up paid off hugely.
“I’m very pleased with the result, we changed a lot on the car overnight,” said Vettel. “The boys were working very hard and they didn’t get much sleep. To have a result like this today is the best way to say thanks.
“I’ve got the confidence back, today I felt much more comfortable in the car, now I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
“I think they [the mechanics] got back to the hotel around 5am. Straightaway I noticed the difference and was happier. If you are happier it is usually because the car is better, and if you are confident you are also able to get more out of yourself.”
