Ferrari have confirmed that former Technical Director Aldo Costa has left the Italian company, prompting speculation he could join a rival outfit at the end of the season.

Costa, who was dropped in favour of Pat Fry after Ferrari’s worst ever start to a Formula 1 season, had been expected to move to the road car side of the business, but the company has confirmed the two have now parted company.

He will be on so-called ‘gardening leave’ until the end of the year, meaning he won’t be able to join a rival outfit until the new season.
