Williams are hoping the impending off-throttle exhaust-blown diffuser ban, set to be introduced at the next race in Silverstone, won’t have a major impact on them.
In preparation, the outfit will run two diffusers during Friday practice as well as partaking in some straight-line testing in a bid to find ways to negate the loss of downforce which will come with the ban.
“We have a new front wing and revised diffuser for Silverstone,” said technical director Sam Michael. “We will test two diffusers on Friday with the new off-throttle ban coming into play, as well as testing various new over-run maps.
“We are going to Kemble to undertake some additional aero testing in preparation for our home event,” he added.
The Grove outfit will also run their new exhaust system, which was tested in Valencia.
“We took a new exhaust system [to Valencia] but we decided not to run this before qualifying. Having reviewed the practice and race data, we now plan to run the revised exhaust system again at Silverstone.”
