Ferrari has announced the extension of its partnership with Phillip Morris International, the company behind the Marlboro cigarette brand, until the end of 2015.
The deal had been set to expire at the end of the current year.
The collaboration is a controversial one, with the team name still carrying the Marlboro name – Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro. A recent study found that many believes the barcode, which used to feature heavily on the cars, was a subliminal form of advertising, comparing it to the design of the cigarette packages.
The team removed it following complaints, deciding to replace it with the logo shown above, which many believe shares more similarities with the packaging than the former.
