The leading teams in Formula One, Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes, are set to meet in Stuttgart next week to discuss the future direction of the sport.

The current Concorde agreement, which comes to an end very soon, the possibility of a new owner and the changes to the engine regulations in 2013 are all thought to be on the agenda.

It is reported that they will also look at reducing the amount of change from year to year, which has in the past seen major differences from one season to another.

Also up for discussion is the revival of European races, slowing the expansion into Asia and more growth in the United States.

Finally, lower ticket prices and attracting younger audiences through the use of new media and technology is thought to be a major subject on the minds of the team principals to maintain the sports vast consumer market.

As mentioned above, the current Concorde agreement is set to expire and many believe that the teams are pushing for more control over the sport, particularly through the Teams’ Association, FOTA.

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali alluded to the above, saying: “If Formula One is [to be] interesting in the future for manufacturers we need to ensure that all the elements of motor racing are there in equal measure.

Adding that F1 should not “change the rules all the time” while making sure there are races “in all the important markets”.
