Timo Glock has suffered the first engine failure of the season, resulting in an engine change for the Virgin MVR-02 during FP3.
The exact cause of the failure is yet to be confirmed by Cosworth but it is believed a small bolt dropped into the engine manifold causing fatal damage.
Teams have just eight engines to last the entire 19 race season, any use over the alloted amount will result in a ten place grid-drop.
However, a team may change their engine at any point during the season without penalty, though article 28.4 (e) of the sporting regulations states they will not be able to re-use the removed engine during qualifying or the race unless it is the last race of the season.
