Felipe Massa finished the third pre-season test quickest overall with a laptime of 1:22.625, that put him +0.817 ahead of second place man Mark Webber.
The Brazilian also matched Pastor Maldonado for the highest number of laps completed during the day.
Sebastien Buemi continued Toro Rosso’s run of finishing toward the top of the table, just under a second off Massa.
Nick Heidfeld suffered some mechanical issues during the morning but managed to set the fourth quickest lap, just ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton whom had a much better day in the McLaren, completing 107 laps.
Two red flags stopped the session. The first caused by sixth placed man Maldonado, the second by Michael Schumacher when his Mercedes stopped at turn 10.
Jarno Trulli could only complete 18 laps before a crash at turn nine ended his session. The team made it clear that it was a mechanical failure which caused the accident, rather than driver error.
