Bernie Ecclestone says he is more hopeful that the Bahrain Grand Prix will go ahead despite continuing protests in the country.
Several people have been killed and hundreds injured as the police and army defend the capital, Manama, from protesters trying to overthrow the Royal Family.
However, Ecclestone doesn’t believe the problems are as bad as they seem. This comes just hours after he said the race would ‘probably’ have to be cancelled.
“Our people there say ‘it’s quiet, no problems,” he told the BBC.
“I’m more hopeful today. I hope we don’t have to do anything. Let’s hope this all blows away.”
The F1 Times understands that FOTA have come to an early agreement to cancel the Bahrain test and instead stay at the Barcelona track once the current test has come to an end.
There has been dialogue with the Circuit de Catalunya organisers who have agreed to the extra test.
