Nico Hulkenberg says he’s ‘sure’ he’ll be in Formula One next season, adding that he hopes his situation will ‘change very soon’.
The German joined Williams at the beginning of the 2010 season and enjoyed some impressive performances in the latter half of the season which saw him secure pole position in Brazil.
Despite that, Williams opted to drop him for current GP2 champion Pastor Maldonado leaving Hulkenberg without a 2011 seat, something the German is working hard to change.
“At this point I would like to thank the Williams team for three great years,” he wrote on his official website. “Although it is very, very sad that the cooperation will not continue, I am glad to have been part of the team.
“I’m still sure that I [will] stay in F1 in 2011. [I’m] sure you’ve read all of this in the media. I still do not have a new contract with another team, but that will hopefully change very soon. It [the future] looks well!”
He has been linked with a seat at Force India or possibly a reserve role with Mercedes GP.
