Bernie Ecclestone is now certain that the Korean GP will go ahead despite the top layer of tarmac only being completed this week.
The inaugural Korean race is set to take place on the 24th October, however doubts were cast over the races future as the FIA checks to sign the circuit ‘safe’ were delayed on two occasions.
Those vital checks will now take place immediately after the Japanese GP with a decision expected on Wednesday – although Ecclestone is sure they’ll pass the inspection.
“I will be there, the world will be watching and we will have a great race – it is on, end of story,” Ecclestone told the Daily Express.
“They had problems but they have done wonders in the last few weeks. I’ve been in touch; I’ve seen photographs and the top layer of the track has been laid. They will pass the inspection.”
