Mark Webber is a little miffed at the current accusations being levelled at Red Bull of recent which suggest their RB6 isn’t abiding by the regulations.
The flexi-wing uproar looks set to continue as the FIA are to introduce tougher tests at the Belgium GP, in four weeks time, to put to rest whether or not the Red Bull and Ferrari’s wings are in fact legal, or illegal.
Webber though is certain that his car is completely fair as it has so far passed every FIA scrutineering test which includes placing 50kg weights on the wings to measure any flex over 10mm.
“Our guys have broken their balls to design a car in the spirit of the regulations, every time we are tested by the FIA, we pass,” he said.
“The car has always been passed by the FIA, so when people don’t like what they see on the stopwatch, they have to justify their own positions sometimes.
“When there is pressure on people to perform and they’re getting destroyed, that’s how it is.
“Some teams have done certain things, other teams have done other things. McLaren incorporated the F-duct, which is a sensational idea.
“We’ve turned the world upside down to try and do that which is not without resource difficulties, but that’s Formula One.”
The Australian says he isn’t losing any sleep over the accusations and believes it would be wrong to ban the innovative wings.
“We’re more than happy with what we have on the car, and we’re sleeping well at night,” he added.
“You should never penalise things that are ingenious, and people who are doing a good job, and that’s sometimes the case.
“There’s always something new to bring out of the cupboard.”
