The F1 Times has, today, released a new service… FREE SMS updates. We hope that this service proves popular with our readers as we offer another way of getting breaking news and race results without you having to be anywhere near a computer.
Anyone can sign up, all you need is a mobile phone number and thirty-seconds. Be sure to click the banner (or HERE) and follow the steps for this totally free service.
First off, is it REALLY free?
Totally! Even the sign-up process is free. No “text this to that number,” just simply click on the banner, enter your mobile number (including the country code) and hit submit. It’s as simple as 1,2,3. There will be absolutly no charge for receiving messages from us*.
What information can I expect to receive?
We will be sending messages mainly on race weekends with information of Saturday free practice classifications, Qualifying classifications and finally race classifications on the Sunday. However, if there is some major breaking news at any time we will send you this aswell – that way you can be kept in the loop even if you don’t have access to the internet.
Will you sell on my telephone number?
Absolutly not. We know how important your privacy is to you and as a result even your mobile numbers are kept on a secure server. The only people who will have access to this information are the editors of The F1 Times (that’s Adam and Ryan).
What happens if I want to un-subscribe?
Hopefully you won’t want to, however, if you do. Just simply click on the banner for mobile updates, use the drop down box to select “Unsubscribe” enter your number again and hit submit. We will remove you from our list within 24 hours.
What is a “country code?”
A country code is a code designated to a country which is to be entered when dialling abroad. The international code for UK is +44 (or 0044), you may have wondered why text messages sometimes come through to your phone with “+44” in front – now you know. A list of the international codes can be found on the mobile updates sign-up page.
I have another question…
Above are just some of the FAQ’s that we expect you may have. However, if you have a more specific question regarding mobile updates, please use the contact page (link at the bottom of every page) and we will be only too happy to help.
*Please note that although we won’t charge you for the service that your mobile carrier may introduce a small charge if you are based outside the UK. This is out of our control and something you will have to check with your cell/mobile phone supplier. Our SMS server is UK-based and although we believe there shouldn’t be a charge, The F1 Times takes no responsibility if your carrier charges you any international SMS fee.
