Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed a 20-race calendar for 2011.
With the introduction of the Indian GP next year, the calendar will expand from it’s current 19 races to 20, as Ecclestone stated that no current races will be dropped.
“We’re not dropping anything,” he declared.
The 80-year-old then warned teams they should be “getting ready for 25” races in the future as F1 looks to expand into new cities around the world, including: New York, Rome and Russia.
Despite the lack of a crowd in China for practice on Friday, amounting to just a few thousand, he confirmed the Shanghai race would remain on the calendar for the foreseeable future, but blamed local promoters for doing a poor job.
“It is a shame because the whole venue is super, everything is good,” he said told Autosport. “It is shame. They are not promoting it properly; it is as simple as that. The people that run the place ought to do a bit more. If you were in Shanghai you wouldn’t even know there is a race here.”
