Felipe Massa doesn’t agree with Lewis Hamilton’s comments that the Red Bull is “ridiculously faster than anyone else’s car.”
Massa managed to qualify within two-hundredths of a second behind Sebastian Vettel in Bahrain, but couldn’t match the early pace set by the RB6 in the opening laps of the race.
“I had noticed their [Red Bull’s] pace over the longer runs had been very strong, so its speed in Bahrain qualifying was not a surprise,” ESPNF1 quote Massa as saying.
The Brazilian and his teammate took a 1-2 in Bahrain after keeping up with Vettel on the harder tyre, before Vettel suffered an engine problem, reported to be a spark plug issue by the team.
Massa reckons the Ferrari is able to keep up with RBR, but development throughout the season to close whatever gap may exist is crucial.
“Overall, we were very similar and that reinforces the need to try and improve our car at every race through the season.”
