McLaren reveals Rossi’s livery for 2023 IndyCar season

The Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team has unveiled the first new livery for the upcoming IndyCar season by showing off the look of Alexander Rossi’s #7 machine.

The team’s newest driver will sport a familiar papaya and light blue livery, which is nearly identical to the scheme run by Felix Rosenqvist last season.

McLaren has a history of running new liveries with regularity, as well as special occasion paint schemes for the Indianapolis 500 and other high profile races.  But in this case, it seems the color combination worked well enough for the team to keep it around for a second season.

There are minor differences, including the driver number being displayed in blue rather than black, and a few tweaks to the accent colors on the front wing.

Many of the team’s sponsors remain the same for 2023 as well, with Velo taking the primary location on the sidepods and Arrow branding adorning the rear wing.

Rossi’s firesuit will complement the car’s livery, with black and papaya orange making up the main portion of his racing gear.

“This Thermal test will be the first in my career that I’ve gone to without really having any performance expectations,” Rossi said in a team release. “It’s going to be a different philosophy for me at a new team, with a different approach and methodology of extracting performance from the car.

“I hope my experience will help the team answer questions on how to be successful in certain areas and at different tracks. I’m able to come here to provide those experiences with all the good and bad moments I’ve learned over time. You can talk and have many conversations, but until you get to the racetrack and in that competitive mode, it’s hard to see yet where we are at. It will be an amazing season to be part of.”

Liveries for the team’s other two full time drivers Felix Rosenqvist and Pato O’Ward will be revealed later this week.

The first time the revised schemes will be seen on track will be at IndyCar’s open test session from The Thermal Club on February 2-3.
