Glickenhaus will not race at the World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Fuji, with team boss Jim Glickenhaus citing economic and financial reasons.
“Racing has to make economic sense for our company. For that reason, we were never planning to race at Fuji, but we were waiting for the FIA to publicly announce it. Regarding Bahrain, the Crown Prince of Bahrain is a friend of mine, but I don’t want to be one of those guys who says ‘yeah, we’ll be there’, then doesn’t show.”
Glickenhaus also commented on the car’s lack of hybrid, saying having a hybrid car in a Balance of Performance-mandated class “makes no sense. Our car is reliable, and where hybrid may have certain advantages, it has disadvantages too, with BoP taking everything into consideration. For example, we saw with the #7 Toyota at Le Mans, they had issues, and they’ve had issues elsewhere too.”
Finally, the American also commented on Peugeot’s debut in the WEC this weekend, with the #94 spending much of the first free practice session in the box, completing just 12 laps and ending up the slowest prototype in the session. “I don’t know what the issue was for one of the Peugeots. It seemed to spend a lot of time in the box, so who knows what the issue was. The other car was very quick, though.”
