Lewis Hamilton is looking to have some easier races in the future after making some tough decisions which have seen him having to battle his way through the pack in the last three races.
Whilst his teammate has two wins out of four races, Hamilton is yet to taste victory in 2010, although two podiums have seen him stay within touching distance of the championship leader, Jenson Button.
In Australia, Button made the right tyre call which saw him take a sensational victory, and again in China, he made the right decisions which led to him taking the win, whilst only having to overtake one car, that of Nico Rosberg.
Meanwhile, Hamilton hasn’t made the same calls, and admits Jenson has. That’s led to the 2008 world champion having to overtake more cars than anyone else on the grid in 2010.
“I have done it that hard way and Jenson has done it the easy way,” Hamilton told The Times. “To do all that hard racing but you don’t have any wins is hard to take, while Jenson has two – which is fantastic. I have had great races but he has made all the right decisions and taken the easier route.
“Three brilliant drives from me but no wins. Hopefully, soon I will take the easier route. But I am really happy for Jenson. He did a better job and I am sure that when the tables turn, as they will, it will be the same for me.”
Hamilton admitted Button has a smart head on his shoulders and that, combined with his relaxed driving style, has led to a formidable team.
“We both have a great chance of winning the title. The good thing with me and Jenson is that we clearly want to beat each other but Jenson is very smart and does not have that too aggressive flair in him. Neither of us wants to crash and ruin our chances of winning.”
