Honda’s new power unit facility in Milton Keynes is expected to be up and running by June, the company confirmed.

Whilst the engines will be designed in Japan, at a new factory in Sakura City, Tochigi, the UK facility will act as its local base for the championship where it will test, assemble and maintain the units.

Whilst very little has been revealed with regards to their new power unit, which will exclusively power McLaren in 2015, the company confirmed they are making “steady progress”.

“For the FIA Formula One World Championship, which Honda will rejoin in the 2015 season, the company is making steady progress in developing the power unit,” read a statement.
