Laurens Vanthoor and Dennis Olsen will race for Porsche squad SSR Performance in DTM this year.

The two drivers will be part of the debut season for the team, which will mark the first time the Stuttgart brand has contested the full championship. It took part in a one-off appearance at the Nürburgring last year with Michael Ammermuller.

Vanthoor and Olsen both have extensive experience racing Porsche machinery. The Belgian won the GTD title in IMSA last year and notably won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in GTE Pro.

“I am massively looking forward to the season,” Vanthoor said. “The team has made a name for itself in the sport within a really short time and I am looking forward to working with them now.”

“The season will certainly not be easy because competition is really strong. Nevertheless, it is our ambition to be successful. For me, being alone in the car is a while ago, motivation is accordingly high. As far as I am concerned, it can start,”

Olsen, hailing from Norway, won the Intercontinental GT Challenge with Porsche in 2019 and has raced for the brand in a number of championships worldwide.

“I am very much looking forward to DTM! For me, racing in such a strong field of drivers is a great challenge,” he said.

Stefan Schlund, managing director at SSR Performance, added: “I am enormously happy with the selection and by Porsche making the drivers available for this project. I am convinced that we have a powerful brigade and can be successful with both the #92 and the #94 car.”
