FP2: Red Bull Take Control in Abu Dhabi

Red Bull took a commanding 1-2 in second practice, with Sebastian Vettel leading from Mark Webber.

Not only did they look good over a single lap, but their long runs also looked ominous. They were the only team to consistently lap in the 1:46s during their race simulations.

However it does look a bit closer than in India with Lewis Hamilton 0.355 seconds slower than Vettel’s quickest time. Kimi Raikkonen was also within four tenths of Vettel and completes the top four.

Rosberg was fifth fastest for Mercedes. McLaren will be very content with 6th and 7th and being comfortably ahead of both Ferrari drivers. They also looked strong comparative to Ferrari in the race simulations.

In particular McLaren were very quick in the speed traps, with perhaps an eye on having a good car to overtake with in the race.
