Lewis Hamilton has clarified comments he made in the wake of the Korean Grand Prix in which Sebastian Vettel took his eighth win of the season.
The Briton expressed fear that the Red Bull driver’s dominance was causing fans to turn off or fall asleep, but took to Twitter to confirm his comments held no malice toward the 26-year-old.
“I admire his dedication and ability to consistently perform without mistakes,” he wrote on Tuesday. “That is the mark of a true champion.”
The Mercedes driver went even further to appease Vettel’s fan’s who claim the 2008 champion is simply jealous of Vettel’s success and wishes he were in the same situation.
“Not only that, he is a great human being who is funny and humble. Deserves all the success he is having!
“Regardless of what you and I may think about his car, at the end of the day he’s doing the perfect job,” he added.
“I’m just grateful I get to drive in an era with so many great drivers like him.”
