Jenson Button says he isn’t tempted to look for a seat elsewhere next year on the back of a so far disappointing season for the McLaren outfit.
At present the Briton has just 33 points and no podium finishes after nine races compared to 50 at the same point in 2012 which includes a win and a second place.
The 2009 champion is however confident this year is just a rough patch and he doesn’t expect them to struggle to the same degree in 2014 going by their past form.
“If this was a team that was consistently finishing fourth or fifth in championship then of course I would look elsewhere,” said Button.
“In that case, I would look to one of the frontrunning teams to step up to, somewhere that could give me a race-winning car.
“But this isn’t a team that is finishing four of fifth in the constructors’. This is a bad year and in years to come this team will be fighting for world championships.
“I am not looking around like some people might think,” he added in response to claims he is looking to join Red Bull as Mark Webber’s replacement.
