The Lotus F1 Team have confirmed that they intend to run their so-called ‘device’ or Double-DRS at the British Grand Prix for the first time.
The outfit has trialed the wing-stalling system during practice in the past, but has yet to run it during qualifying or the race itself.
They had hoped to debut it at the Spanish event following a straight-line test, but the test results weren’t conclusive, therefore further development was required to ensure it behaves as planned.
Director of trackside operations, Alan Permane, confirmed they undetook a further straight-line test ahead of the British GP.
“We conducted a couple of days of straight-line running after Canada with positive results and some of the fruits of this work should be seen in Silverstone.”
As part of their Silverstone upgrade package, which includes a new front and rear wing, sidepods and suspension, they will once again evaluate DDRS during practice with a view to racing it.
