Abbi Pulling excelled in Austin during qualifying to line up on pole position for the first time in her W Series career.

More importantly, Jamie Chadwick was able to get onto the front row in second, whilst her championship rival Alice Powell could only manage tenth.

Pulling was consistent all the way through the session, topping the timing pages after the first ten minutes by 0.176 seconds in front of Sarah Moore and Powell in the top three.

After the first runs, it was still Pulling fastest, while Chadwick was able to move up to third and displace Powell.

It was an early end to the session though for Miki Koyama, as broken rear-suspension curtailed her running and would ultimately line up 15th on the grid.

The gap between Pulling and the rest got closer but a margin of 0.070 seconds was enough to see the 18-year old Brit take pole with Chadwick second and Belen Garcia in third position.

Moore was fourth in front of the championship underdog Emma Kimilainen in fifth. Marta Garcia will start in sixth ahead of Beitske Visser, Jessica Hawkins and Fabienne Wohlwend.

By being eight tenths off the pace, Powell has it all do from tenth on the grid for the penultimate race of the season.

Round 7 of the W Series begins at 17:25 track time following Formula 1 qualifying.
