Juncos Hollinger Racing has announced its intent to field a car in the NTT IndyCar Series for the 2022 season, forming from a new partnership with Ricardo Juncos and Brad Hollinger.

Hollinger was a board member of the Williams Grand Prix Formula 1 team, and turned his relationship with team owner Ricardo Juncos into this new joint venture.

The team’s initial return will be in the final three races of the current season, including the season finale on the streets of Long Beach.

Juncos Hollinger Racing also plans to contest the full 2022 season, which will be the first time it has contested anything other than part-time entries.

“The opportunity to partner with someone who shares many of the same values, passion, determination, and is forward-thinking like Brad Hollinger makes this an incredible moment in our team’s history,” said Ricardo Juncos.

“Brad has a lot of experience at one of the highest levels in racing and brings resources that will create more opportunities and growth for all of our programs.

“I am looking forward to what our future holds at Juncos Hollinger Racing and taking our team to the next level.”

Juncos has been a staple in the Road to Indy series in recent years, winning the Indy Lights championships in 2015 and 2017.

Having found success, the team expanded into the IndyCar Series in 2017, running select races over the next three years.

The team gained the most notoriety in 2019, when it unexpectedly bumped Fernando Alonso out of the Indy 500 with Kyle Kaiser behind the wheel.

The pandemic hit the Argentine-American team hard, and it was forced to all but stop operations and compete in only the Indy Pro 2000 series in 2020.

Now, after some hints in May that the team was being rebuilt, it seems Ricardo Juncos is ready to come back stronger than ever.

The first time the team will be back on track will be at the Grand Prix of Portland on the weekend of September 10-12.

A driver has not been announced at this time for either the three races this season or for next year’s run.
