Meyer Shank Racing has confirmed it has re-signed four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves for a full season in 2022 while Jack Harvey will depart.

At 46-years of age, the Brazilian will compete in an IndyCar event for the 22nd consecutive season, a lengthy career that boasts 31 wins, 94 podiums and 54 pole positions.

Castroneves fought off Chip Ganassi’s Alex Palou to claim MSR’s maiden IndyCar victory as well as his long-awaited fourth win at the Brickyard.

The team will run with the theme of ‘Drive for Five’ as Castroneves will make his bid to secure a record-breaking fifth Indy 500 win.

“I am thrilled to get the chance to go for a fifth Indianapolis 500 win, and so excited to fight for the INDYCAR championship again with a full season of races next year with Meyer Shank Racing,” said Castroneves.

“Mike (Shank) and Jim (Meyer) have developed some incredible sponsorships with AutoNation and SiriusXM, and having that support is critical. I have been missing racing in IndyCar full time so much! So I cannot wait to get a head start on next year with some strong races to finish this season.”

MSR has also confirmed Harvey’s departure, the Briton has been with the team since the team made its debut in 2017.

A replacement full-time driver is set to be announced in due course.

Harvey’s destination for the 2022 campaign has yet to be confirmed with talk of driver shake-ups potentially leaving vacancies at Andretti Autosport and Team Penske.

“We wish Jack much success and we know he will continue to be a driver to watch,” added MSR co-owner, Mike Shank.

“MSR is excited to have Helio on the 06 car next season and we’re looking forward to adding a driver, who will turn heads in the 60 car.”

Castroneves has five more appearances in the No.06-AutoNation-Honda in the remainder of the 2021 campaign beginning at the Music City Grand Prix in Nashville on August 6-8.
