Guanyu Zhou reiginited his championship charge by taking victory in the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race at Silverstone.

The Chinese driver was untroubled throughout the 29-lap event to lead home-hero Dan Ticktum and Oscar Piastri to his third F2 win.

Zhou got the better start than pole-sitter Piastri to lead into Abbey, while Ticktum did the same to third-place Richard Verschoor.

The top ten before the pit window opened on Lap 6 was Zhou out in front ahead of Piastri, Ticktum, Verschoor, Robert Shwartzman, Felipe Drugovich, Christian Lundgaard, Theo Pourchaire, Liam Lawson and Roy Nissany.

The top three all pitted on different laps despite starting on the softer (medium) compound as each other, with Zhou stopping the latest on Lap 8 and his margin was too big for Piastri or Ticktum to complete an undercut on him.

However, Ticktum was able to leapfrog Piastri by pitting a lap before him and was able to effectively move up to second.

Following drivers pitting after being on the alternate strategy including Vips, Daruvala and Matteo Nannini, the lead was handed back to Zhou with five laps remaining.

The only significant overtake on track following the pit stops was Vips passing Pourchaire at The Loop on Lap 25 to go up to seventh position.

Verschoor in fourth, got close to Piastri when they went side-by-side into Stowe and Vale on the penultimate lap and despite going off the track, the Australian was able to keep hold of the final podium spot. The stewards concluded that no investigation was necessary.

The chequered flag saw Zhou head home Ticktum and Piastri, with Verschoor and Shwartzman in the top five.

Drugovich was sixth ahead of Vips, with Pourchaire in eighth in front of Lirim Zendeli.

Daruvala rounded out the top ten and also picked up the two points for the fastest lap.

The top of the championship sees Piastri remain as leader but Zhou’s victory sees the cut down to just five points. Ticktum’s second place in the Feature Race elevates him up to fourth and 19 points off the top.

The next round for FIA Formula 2 will be at Monza on the 10-12 September, supporting the Italian Grand Prix weekend.
