Di Resta: ‘My best day in Formula 1 so far’

Paul di Resta has claimed today his ‘best day in Formula One’ so far after the Force India driver managed his best ever result – fourth in Singapore.

The Scott’s previous best finish was sixth at the 2012 Bahrain GP and at last years Singapore GP. This year he went two better though and managed to finish in the same position he qualified.

“Fourth place is a great team result and my best day in Formula One so far,” said Di Resta. “We qualified well, raced hard and took advantage of a few retirements, but in the final stint we certainly showed that we had great pace.

“I don’t think the safety car really impacted on my race too much and I was able to make clean restarts each time and hold my position.”

The 26-year-old came close to challenging Fernando Alonso for third in the latter stages of the race, but his pace fell off during the final laps.

“I was very close to Alonso in the closing stages, but was just missing the pace to really challenge him for the podium. This result is just what we needed for our fight in the championship and I want to say a massive ‘thank you’ to the boys in the garage who put in a huge effort, as always.”

Force India are now just 25 points behind Sauber, whilst Di Resta surpasses Michael Schumacher in the Drivers’ Championship to take 11th.
