Indy Lights veteran Norman to make IndyCar debut in Mid-Ohio

Ryan Norman has competed in Indy Lights for three seasons.

Ryan Norman is set to make his IndyCar debut at Mid-Ohio, driving the #52 Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing entry.

Norman spent the 2017-2019 seasons competing in Indy Lights for Andretti Autosport, where he regularly finished in the top 10.

In 2020, with the Indy Lights season being cancelled on account of the pandemic, he competed full-time in a Hyundai Veloster N TCR in the Michelin Pilot Challenge series and won the drivers’ championship.

Now Norman will make his IndyCar Series debut in a one-race deal at Mid-Ohio with Romain Grosjean and Ed Jones as his team-mates.

“My goal throughout my whole racing career has been to become an NTT IndyCar Series driver,” said Norman.

“So many years of hard work and sacrifices have finally paid off and I want to thank Dale Coyne for giving me a shot to show what I can do in the series.

“They have shown over the years that they have created a great competitive program and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.

“I’m more prepared than ever before to show that I belong in IndyCar and can fight for podiums and wins.  It’s time to get to work!”

The third Dale Coyne Racing entry was present at last weekend’s event from Road America and was piloted by Cody Ware in his own IndyCar debut.

There have been some rumors that Ware is looking to compete in more races later this season as well, but Norman will be behind the wheel for at least the next race on the calendar.

Norman’s first taste of a full blown IndyCar will be on the afternoon of Friday, July 2 for the weekend’s opening practice session.
