James Small, crew chief for Martin Truex Jr. on the #19 Joe Gibbs Racing team in the NASCAR Cup Series, was fined $10,000 for one improperly secured [loose or missing] lug nut after the inaugural Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway on Sunday.

The #19 team was one of two teams penalized for a lug nut issue after the Ally 400.

As previously reported, Chase Elliott and his #9 Hendrick Motorsports team were disqualified because of five improperly secured lug nuts. That penalty cost Elliott a 13th-place finish and stage-one win.

Small was one of two Joe Gibbs Racing crew chiefs fined for a loose or missing lug nut during the Nashville tripleheader NASCAR weekend. Chris Gayle, crew chief for Kyle Busch on the #54 JGR team in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, was fined $5,000 after Saturday’s Tennessee Lottery 250 Xfinity race.
