Team Project 1 has given an update on the status of its #46 Porsche 911 RSR-19, stating that it is aiming to have the car back in action for the third round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Monza.
The car sustained significant damage when it was crashed by Anders Buchardt in the pre-season WEC prologue tests at Spa-Francorchamps.
As a result, it missed the opening six-hour race of the season and was sent back to Germany for repairs.
The team has hoped to bring the car back for this weekend’s second round at Portimao, but was forced to postpone its return further as repairs could not be completed in time.
The team now says that the current plans are to bring the car back at round three in Monza.
“The troop of our #46 will not be back in Portugal yet,” the team stated. “After the impact in Spa, the chassis of the 911 RSR has to be repaired and is therefore still at Porsche. The next event for the racing car is planned in Monza, Italy.”
The German squad wil therefore only be running a single car at the 8 Hours of Portimao, with the #56 Porsche 911 RSR-19 entered for Egidio Perfetti, Riccardo Pera and newly crowned Nürburgring 24 Hours winner Matteo Cairoli.
