Longtime NASCAR competitor Jeff Green announced his retirement via Twitter on Friday morning.

“Well that’s it folks time to kick back and enjoy the Good Life!!” Green [@buckcentral10] tweeted.

When asked if he was referring to retirement, Green responded, “Yep.”

Green last competed in NASCAR as a driver in 2020, transitioning into a crew chief role in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and ARCA Menards Series for RSS Racing in the last year. He was an Xfinity Series crew chief for 25 races last season, working primarily with Myatt Snider. Together, Green and Snider posted one top-10 finish in 2020. Green also was crew chief for Kyle Sieg for Sieg’s Xfinity Series debut at Dover International Speedway last weekend.

As a driver, Green was the 2000 Xfinity Series champion by a then-record 616-point margin. He finished in the top-two of the driver points standings for three-consecutive seasons between 1999 and 2001. Most of Green’s NASCAR national-level experience as a driver came in the Xfinity Series with 535 starts between 1990 and 2020, resulting in 16 wins, 87 top-fives and 131 top-10 finishes.

Green also contested 270 NASCAR Cup Series races and 10 NASCAR Truck Series races. He finished in the top-five in five Cup Series races with a best finish of second at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2002. His best Truck Series finish was a seventh at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2008.

“Can’t thank y’alls enough on all the kind works. I was very blessed to be able to accomplish all my dreams and be able to make the memories and meet friends along the way and the best thing about all of it is the friends and memories will always be there,” Green tweeted Saturday.
