In preparation for a tripleheader NASCAR weekend June 18-20, Goodyear conducted its second tire test at Nashville Superspeedway on Tuesday and Wednesday. Kurt Busch, Chase Briscoe and Christopher Bell, participants in the first tire test there in March returned for the second test.

“KuBusch, Bell, Briscoe return to Nashville Superspeedway on Tue-Wed for another tire test (closed) to confirm tire for June,” Pockrass (@BobPockrass) tweeted. “NASCAR has applied a resin (not PJ1) & then used tire dragon to help efficiency of the tire dragon to rubber-in track. Likely will do that again in June.”

The June 20 Cup Series race will be the first, ever, for NASCAR’s premier series at Nashville Superspeedway. The series last raced in the Nashville area in 1984 at the downtown short track now known as Fairgrounds Speedway. The NASCAR Xfinity and Camping World Truck series raced at the superspeedway near Lebanon, Tenn., between 2001 and 2011. The track has been inactive since then.

“It’s great to rekindle and old friendship,” Busch said after the first tire test. “I haven’t been out here in many years, and it hasn’t changed a bit. The concrete is very consistent, and I think the track is going to be fun to race on with all the other cars out there and, more importantly, it’s something new and refreshing.”

All three of NASCAR’s national series will race at Nashville Superspeedway in June, with a Truck Series race scheduled for June 18 and the Xfinity Series on June 19. Current Cup drivers who won at Nashville in either the Truck or Xfinity series before the track shut down include Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick. Goodyear has been a loyal supporter of NASCAR and is keen to ensure that their tires integrate well with all the working parts of today’s Cup machines which can really get a parts geek excited when looking at them out on the track.
