London returns as Formula E completes record-breaking 2020/21 calendar
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Formula E has finalised its 2020/21 calendar, which will feature a record-breaking 15 rounds, with London returning to the schedule.

Formula E was forced to revise its season seven calendar as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation or postponement of several races.

Up until this week, only seven rounds were confirmed on the schedule, with a double-header in Diriyah (Saudi Arabia) opening the season in February. That was followed by a Rome double-header earlier this month.

This weekend the series is back in action in Valencia, before heading to Monaco next month where it will use the full Formula 1 circuit for the first time ever.

Now the championship has confirmed a further eight rounds – all of which are double-headers – bringing the calendar up to a total of 15 races – a record for the all-electric series.

Puebla (Mexico) will host rounds eight and nine in July, followed by New York and London in July, before the season concludes in Berlin in August.

London’s event will take place at the ExCeL exhibition centre with a unique indoor/outdoor venue.

Previously planned events in Santiago, Seoul and Sanya will be rescheduled for Season 8 where fans will once again be in attendance.

“It’s a massive achievement by all to release the full calendar for this season,” commented Formula E co-founder Alberto Longo. “The calendar includes the most races we’ve held in one season and shows our continued commitment to create a momentum-building schedule that fans and audiences across the world will follow.

“Four double-header events in Puebla, New York City, London and Berlin are going to set the scene perfectly to crown Formula E’s first official FIA World Champion.”

Both Puebla and London remain subject to homologation.
