It has been confirmed that Mercedes head of aerodynamics Loic Bigois has left the team under mutual consent.
The Frenchman has been with the Brackley outfit since 2007 when they were under Honda ownership through to the Brawn year and now Mercedes.
Team principal Ross Brawn confirmed the news to Autosport, explaining that the loss of Bigois was down to a restructuring of the technical department.
“Perhaps, with some of the restructuring we have done, it didn’t fit in with what he was hoping to do, so he asked to be released from his contract and we released him. He is going somewhere else at the end of the year.”
It’s been reported that he is on his way to Ferrari to take up a lead aerodynamicist role in Maranello, though the Italian outfit is yet to confirm this.
