2020 Le Mans class winner Alex Lynn will join defending LMP2 winners United Autosports for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, teaming up with Paul di Resta.

The platinum-rated pairing will drive the team’s #23 ORECA 07-Gibson, one of three cars entered in the race by the Anglo-American team.

Lynn returns to prototype racing after two WEC season of racing in GTE Pro with Aston Martin, which he capped off by taking a class win at Le Mans before the British marque bowed out of the series at the end of 2020.

He has raced the ORECA 07 before during the 2017 WEC season, which also saw him make his Le Mans debut in 2017.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining United Autosports for the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours,” Lynn said. “It feels like I’m going back home, driving a prototype.”

“To be with the defending LMP2 Le Mans-winning team and driver, Paul di Resta, is a great opportunity. After standing on that top step of the podium last year I can’t wait to get going again, and I’m sure we’d all love to do the two!”

Lynn has raced for United Autosports in the past, racing a Ligier LMP3 car at the 2016 Gulf 12 Hours.

“I’m delighted to welcome Alex back to our team for the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours,” team co-owner Zak Brown has said. “Like us, he knows what it takes to win at Le Mans and between him and Paul and their co-driver, I’m sure they will be a line up to keep an eye on.”

The third driver to join Lynn and Di Resta will be named at a later date.
