Brad Keselowski and Daniel Suarez will be without their regular crew chiefs for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday. Keselowski’s crew chief Jeremy Bullins and Suarez’s crew chief Travis Mack were issued one-race suspensions and $20,000 fines after Keselowski’s #2 Team Penske entry and Suarez’s #99 Trackhouse Racing car each had two lug nuts loose or missing following the March 14 race at Phoenix Raceway.
NASCAR also recently announced the indefinite suspension of Jonathan Stewart, listed as an engineer on the #21 GMS Racing entry of Zane Smith in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, for violation of NASCAR’s substance abuse policy.
Three other Cup Series crew chiefs were fined $10,000 each for one improperly secured lug nut at the end of the Phoenix race. They include Matt McCall, crew chief on Kurt Busch’s #1 Chip Ganassi Racing team; Ben Beshore, crew chief on the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing team of Kyle Busch; and Rudy Fugle, crew chief for William Byron on the #24 Hendrick Motorsports team.
