Jorge Lorenzo has come in for criticism from MotoGP rider Jack Miller as the spat between the five-time champion and the British rider Cal Crutchlow continues.
Lorenzo commented on an Instagram post on the official MotoGP account which showed a photo of Crutchlow crashing out during testing, with the caption: “Cal Crutchlow wasn’t the only one to be caught out by Turn 2 today! Several riders found themselves in the gravel as the sun came down and temperatures dropped!”
Lorenzo replied: “I told you…” which continues the ongoing spat between the two which started when the Spaniard described Yamaha’s decision to replace him with Crutchlow as test rider “like exchanging gold for bronze”.
Miller quickly responded: “How about you grow up mate. Seriously, stop behaving like a child!”
The spat then continued on Twitter, with Aleix Espargaro jumping in with: “I prefer to be [a] good human than a champion! Love you Cal!”
That prompted Lorenzo to respond: “Better to be both right? I assure you that it is a wonderful sensation and hopefully one day you’ll be able to try it too!”
Since being replaced at Yamaha, Lorenzo has become increasingly outspoken on social media. It stems from a decision by the team to hire him as test rider for 2020, only to be barely called up and then replaced by Crutchlow for 2021.
Crutchlow shrugged off Lorenzo’s initial criticism back in November: “At the end of the day I don’t really have anything to say to him.
“I fully respect him as a racer and as a five-time world champion – he will tell you a lot that he is a five-time world champion!
“He’s very special on the bike. But that doesn’t mean he’s a great test rider.
“I think you have to take some of the things he says with a pinch of salt, and I’m sure it has affected him more than it has me.”
