Denny Hamlin has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain behind the wheel of the #11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota in the NASCAR Cup Series. Before the extension, his contract was set to expire at the end of the 2021 season. The length of the description was not revealed.

Hamlin’s longtime primary sponsor, FedEx, also has signed a multi-year extension with JGR.

“I’m so fortunate to have the support of FedEx behind me throughout my career,” Hamlin said. “I take a tremendous amount of pride in having the opportunity to represent them not only on the racetrack, but also in the community through the countless programs they have supported for the better part of these past two decades.”

Hamlin has been with JGR for his entire Cup Series career. After a partial schedule in 2005, he went full-time Cup racing in 2006. In 542-career races, he has 44 wins, including seven last season. He finished fourth in the 2020 driver standings after making the championship four of the playoffs for the second-consecutive season. He also finished the 2019 season in the fourth position.

Hamlin also will be a Cup Series team owner, beginning in 2021, as co-owner, along with NBA legend Michael Jordan, of the new 23XI Racing team that will field a #23 Toyota. Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. will be the driver of that car. The new team has a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing.
