Dale Coyne Racing has confirmed it will reunite with Ed Jones for the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series campaign.

Jones will drive the Honda-powered No.18 Vasser-Sullivan entry, which will continue its partnership with Sealmaster for a fourth season.

DCR was left without two drivers at the end of 2020 after Santino Ferrucci departed for a part-time drive in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, while Alex Palou moved to Chip Ganassi Racing.

Jones began his IndyCar career with the DCR outfit in 2017 off the back of winning the 2016 Indy Lights championship.

Jones clinched the Rookie of the Year accolade, including a best of third at the Indianapolis 500, and switched to CGR for 2018.

He claimed a pair of podiums but was not retained for 2019, instead joining Ed Carpenter Racing, but took only a single top 10 finish prior to departing at the end of the year.

Jones had been set to run in DTM the WRT Audi outfit for 2020 but did not race due to travel restrictions owing to the pandemic.

“I’m really excited to join the Coyne-Vasser Sullivan team for the 2021 NTT IndyCar season,” said Jones.

“I started my IndyCar career with Dale, Jimmy and Sulli have had much success as owners together, and the combination of Coyne, Vasser Sullivan is a proven team over the last 3 seasons.

“I’m pumped for the opportunity to drive the #18 SealMaster machine and represent the SealMaster franchisees across the country, this really is the perfect opportunity.”

“We’re very happy to have Ed Jones back with us and back in the NTT IndyCar Series this season,” added Team Owner, Dale Coyne.

“We were sad to see him leave after his first time with us but we’ve kept in touch since. Ed had a great rookie season at DCR in 2017, which included our best finish of third at the Indianapolis 500.

“Now with DCVS, we hope to continue where we left off with him and look forward to a strong season.”

The 2021 NTT IndyCar Series is currently scheduled to get underway on April 18 at Alabama’s Barber Motorsports Park.
