Ferrari confirms five-car GTE Am effort for 2021 WEC season

Five teams will enter Ferrari machinery into the GTE Am category for the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship, with the two-car AF Corse operation joined by two new teams.

AF Corse will once again field a pair of Ferrari 488 GTE Evos. The driving crew for the #54 car remains unchanged, as the pairing of Francesco Castellacci, Thomas Flohr and ex-F1 racer Giancarlo Fisichella team up for a third consecutive season.

Meanwhile, Francois Perrodo and Nicklas Nielsen return to the #83 Ferrari to defend their championship crown. Joining the pairing for the 2021 campaign is Italian GT Endurance Championship winner Alessio Rovera.

Iron Lynx, which has spent the past few seasons racing in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, European Le Mans Series as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is making the step up to the WEC for the upcoming season.

The team will enter a pair of cars, one of which will be driven by the ‘Iron Dames’ crew. The all-female trio of Michelle Gatting, Rahel Frey and Manuela Gostner will drive the #85 Ferrari.

Meanwhile, the team’s second car will see Claudio Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni and Andrea Piccini team up.

Finally, Cetilar Racing will be moving from LMP2 to GTE Am, thus bringing to an end their largely unsuccessful tenure with the Dallara P217-Gibson. The Italian crew often struggled for results against the faster ORECA machinery and will instead move to GTE machinery instead.

The team’s #47 has been carried over, with Roberto Lacorte so far the only confirmed driver. Additionally, AF Corse’s GTE Pro cars will carry Cetilar sponsorship.
